Bulawayo– All is set for the 2nd edition of the Bulawayo Volleyball Awards to be held at Bulawayo Polytechnic this Saturday.

The award ceremony slated for 24 November will be honoring the athletes that excelled in this discipline in the previous volleyball season.

Categories up for grabs include the best setter, best attacker, best blocker and most valuable player.

The prizes include medals, trophies and cash prizes for individual accolades and teams.

Bulawayo Volleyball chairman, William Mazviro, said the necessary preparations for this year’s event are done and it’s all systems go.

“Everything is now set for this year’s awards as preparations have reached their final stage,”  Mazviro said.

“This year we will also be awarding Bulawayo players from the National Association of Primary Schools Head (NAPH) and National Secondary School of Heads (NASH) who represented the country in the Cossasa and Cusca games. The pre-season league winners, the best NASH teams and Zimbabwe Tertiary Institutions of Sports Union (ZTISU) teams including the life time achievement will also be awarded,” he added.

Mazviro also said the main purpose of the award ceremony is to reward the hard work and determination demonstrated by the coaches and players throughout the season.

“We want to also encourage and motivate the players in the sporting code to achieve the same and hopefully it will lead to the recognition of the discipline at a professional level,” he said.
