Bulawayo– THE United College of Education (UCE) will tomorrow host the 2nd edition of the Aids Healthcare Foundation (AHF) Zimbabwe tournament.
Other teams that will be joining the hosts this year are Bulawayo Polytechnic College, National University of Science and Technology (NUST) and Westgate.
Football, volleyball, netball and basketball are the sporting disciplines that will be contested by both men’s and women’s teams.
Clever Taderera, the AHF Zimbabwe Prevention Program Manager, said UCE has been confirmed as the venue for the competitions.
“The institution has been chosen as the hosts of the tournament as it underwent refurbishments of its sporting facilities last year,” he said.
Taderera also said all the invited teams have confirmed their participation and preparations for the event are at final stages.
The AHF Zimbabwe formed the event last year when the organisation celebrated its first anniversary in Zimbabwe, through youth involvement in the commemoration of the foundation.
Taderera revealed that the main purpose behind the tournament was to introduce AHF services to youths through sport.
“The objective is to introduce AHF services through sport such as free condom distribution and promotion, including HIV testing and cancelling,” he said.
NUST were crowned champions of the inaugural AHF Zimbabwe First Anniversary tournament hosted by UCE in last year.
