Bulawayo– Matabeleland Tuskers cricket franchise bowler, Ernest Masuku , has every reason to smile after clinching an opportunity to head to England to play for Dukinfield Cricket Club for a six month contract.

Masuku is set to leave the country on April 27.

“I am supposed to leave on the 27th of April but I’m still waiting for my visa though,” a seemingly ecstatic Masuku said.

He added that he was looking forward to play for the Manchester based side because of its hunger for victory.

“Dukinfield Cricket Club plays in the greater Manchester cricket league, they are a very competitive side and are looking forward to win the league this season,” he said.

Masuku, who got this opportunity through the help of his agent, also said he hoped the opportunity would pave way for other members of his club to be scouted overseas.

“The club was also following my progress in the franchise competitions, I feel this is a good opportunity for me to showcase my skills and hopefully pave way for other guys to get clubs that side.”

The bowler went on to reveal that he was nervous as it would be his first time to play his trade in a foreign land.

Aware of the weight on his shoulders of being a foreign player, Masuku said he promises to display a par excellent performance in all his matches.

“Being an overseas player, all eyes will be on me to do very well in every game and I will do just that,” he said.

To make himself a complete package, the skilled bowler is currently working on his bating skills.
