Bulawayo- A grouping of National University of Science and Technology (NUST) students set to graduate today at the institution have mobilised and planned to embarrass President Emmerson Mnangagwa who is set to officiate at the ceremony.
A source has revealed there is going to be a demo led by the Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU) members in protest over the current economic comatose.
“The protest is over a raft number of issues that include unemployment, cash crisis, inflation and other economic problems we are facing not only as students but as a nation. We are tired and it’s time to say enough is enough,” the source said.
The current Students Representative Council President, Denis Mwashita, who is said to be one of the organizers of the demo was not reachable for comment.
Last month a planned demo by the University of Zimbabwe (UZ) graduates flopped due to a total shut down of the institution which was also under tight security during the graduation ceremony.
In 2016, UZ graduates embarrassed the then President and Chancellor of all Universities, Robert Mugabe during a graduation ceremony. The protesters were arrested and were reportedly assaulted by state security personnel.
