The National University of Science and Technology has joined the fight against the troublesome corona virus COVID-19 and has put into motion production of hand sanitizers. The Virus has killed over 50 000 people worldwide and in Zimbabwe it has infected seven and claimed one.

Mr Felix Moyo, Director of Communications and Marketing  confirmed the move which is a welcome addition to the fight against the pandemic which has forced the country into a 21 days lockdown.

He said ” the university has begun the production process but we are still trying to get other chemicals to complete the production”.

He said the sanitizers are being produced in line with World Health organisation guidelines in the production of hand sanitizers.

The university should therefore adhere to the guidelines in order to produce a relevant product. ‘Our professionals know what they are doing. I am sure that they will adhere to the WHO guidelines’ said Mr Moyo.

Use of hand sanitizers is important in the reduction of the spread of the virus .
According to medical experts, the virus contains fats and proteins which can be neutralized through use of hand sanitizers and soap.
Meanwhile the university has availed the NUST  Zimbabwe face masks in the fight against the corona virus.
