FC Platinum has refuted rumors circulating both on social and main stream media claiming that Norman Mapeza’s future at the club is hanging by a thread after a burst out with club chairman, Evans Mtombeni, during a meeting held before their day 2 fixture against Triangle FC.

In a press statement released by the club, the platinum miners have affirmed that the club’s trust is rooted in their current coach, Norman Mapeza, and believe that he is the right man to lead the club.

“As FC Platinum, our primary objective remains one of retaining the Premier League title and our head coach Norman Mapeza is central to this affirmation, as such there are no plans to bring another coach at FC Platinum and at no point has FC Platinum tried to engage another coach,” the statement reads.

Club spokesperson, Chido Chizondo, admitted that there were different views during the meeting but nothing like what was presented in some sections of the media happened.

“It was a meeting that’s been blown out of proportion but everything was sorted out,” Chizondo revealed.

Mapeza made headlines last December when he had a physical altercation with his vice captain, Gift Bello, in the full glare of the spectators, ZIFA and CAF officials after their match against Congolese AS Otoho.
