THE Zimbabwe African People’s Union (ZAPU) aspiring Ward 13 Councillor for Gwanda Central-Garanyemba village, who currently deserted Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), Khenani Ncube, has promised to repair all roads in his constituency, if he wins in the forth coming elections.
Ncube defected from MDC party, led by Welshman Ncube to join the former liberation movement ZAPU, led by Dumiso Dabengwa.
“After realizing that things were not moving too well within all the MDC political parties and leaders loosing focus then I decided to leave my party MDC led by Ncube. Because I was already a councillor, when I left MDC, community members requested me to stand in as a councillor candidate even though I had moved away, now under ZAPU,” said Ncube.
Zapu held its public meeting at Garanyemba Business Centre over the weekend and community members who spoke to TenacityPost said they are behind and supporting Ncube who used to be their councillor under the MDC ticket and did very well in terms of service delivery.
“We have chosen Ncube as councillor so that he finishes his projects that he started long ago. He has been doing well, looking for donors for the water projects and the roads have gone over for five years without repairs, rehabilitation or maintenance,” said Ndodana Moyo, a villager from Ward 13 in Garanyemba.
Ncube hopes to:
Rehabilitate and maintain dust roads that have gone over five years without repairs.
Ensure that an adequate supply of clean water by digging more boreholes and building dams in the area.
To ensure that there is enough waiting rooms at the local clinic and adding more waiting rooms.
ZAPU Matabeleland South chairman, Matthew Sibanda revealed that they have received a lot of party defectors in Gwanda Central, people coming from various political parties, such as ZANU, MDC.
“Many people have noticed that party leaders are merely about pushing to be leaders so as to get positions or to enrich themselves. Many party leaders are not addressing problems at grassroots level. So in ZAPU, people have noticed that there is no violence or anything to do with quarrelling for positions. As ZAPU we are a revolutionary party that is not tribalistic, so many people flocks to us,” said Sibanda.
