Bulawayo- Christian league outfit Flying Stars are leaving no stone un-turned in their quest for the 2018 title.
The league which is affiliated by ZIFA, comprises of 15 churches dotted in different locations in the city.
From its inception, the league has been dominated by Sangano Legends who have defended the cup for a number of years and Flying Stars seek to put an end to that.
“We are at the top of the league at the moment and we hope to maintain that. In the past years we have been in the top, only to be derailed at the eleventh hour and we hope it won’t happen like that this year,” said their gaffer, Evans Madhuku.
He added that the hard work is now in the players’ hands.
“It’s now up to the boys to continue working hard and maintain their composure. What is important now is to be consistent and play our game,” he said.
Flying Stars currently seats at the apex of the log with 48 points, four points ahead of the defending champions Sangano Legends.
The team has 8 games to play before the league comes to an end.
For this Saturday matches, Saints face Victory Fellowship at Emavene Primary while Assemblies of God face second placed Sangano Legends at Hugh Beatle Primary School.
ZCC will lock horns with Word of Life Nkulumane at Dairyboard grounds whereas St Patricks battle Spirit Filled Ministries.
A top of the table clash will be between high Flying Stars and Eagle Life at Evelyn Girls High while GCC wrestles House of Prayer of God (HOPG) at Insukamini Primary.
