Zvishavane – Zimbabwe’s sole representative in CAF club championship, FC Platinum, have extended their dominance into the African safari defeating Madagascar’s CNaSP Sport 1 nil at Mandava Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
After playing a 1 all game away in the Indian Ocean, the Zimbabwean champions cemented their place past the preliminary stage of the competition with a 2-1 aggregate.
Tougher competition is awaiting FC Platinum in the form of Otoho o’Dyo of Congo Brazzaville which went past Primera Agosto of Angola on away goal rule after they were tied at 4-4.
Norman Mapeza, the FC Platinum coach, was delighted by the win over the Madagascan side and his charges are now focusing on the next challenge.
“In Madagascar the pitch was not good for us but we managed to grab an away goal, we played a cautious game today as we restricted them from getting an away goal. Our focus is now on the next assignment,” Mapeza said.
2018 is a year to remember for the platinum miners as they are bubbling in glory having pocketed the championship for the second time in a row and a Castle Cup in the bag.
