Academy 2063 is scouting for few talented soccer players from around Zimbabwe. January 2018 is going to be the beginning of the grooming process for the talented who would have gone past the screening process.
Academy 2063 will be based in Harare operating at Selborne Primary School and Prince Edward High School. Prince Edward school will be grooming 20 boys from the ages of 13 and 14 going for form one, and the U12 age group. The schools have good boarding and soccer training facilities.
The selected youngsters will be granted tuition scholarships to learn at Prince Edward High School and Selborne Primary.
The Coordinator of Academy 2063 said, “The main thrust of the organisations work is to identify gifted children residing in marginalized regions in Zimbabwe. Children living in the country side grow un noticed, thus Academy 2063 is mandated to bridge this shortcoming thus give the rural residing child equal opportunities to their urban counterparts.
“Our aim is to produce national team potential candidates from across Zimbabwe and not from urban centers only. Facilities are set so that all successful candidates can exhibit their talents to their full potential,” said Patson Ndabambi.
Mr. Patson Ndabambi added that there is going to be a thorough final selection in Harare. The selection will be for those who would have made it from the different provinces of Zimbabwe.
“Various scouts are scattered in all provinces identifying talent and there is going to be a national selection from the 7th to the 9th of September at Prince Edward High School, we are also inviting those already in form 1-3 to join in. for those who would be selected they will transfer to Prince Edward High School” said Ndabambi.
Academy 2063 is the brain child of Dr Regis Dzenga who once had a similar project at Lord Marlven High School known as Agatha Sheneti. It produced some of high ranked football players for the national team like Edward Sadomba, Onisimo Bhasera and Ali Sadiki.
