2018 has definitely been a great year for SPORT, Youth, Arts and Recreation Minister, Kirsty Coventry, as she has been recently appointed chairperson of the Senegal Youth Olympic Games Co-ordination Commission.
The news of her appointment alone as the new minister came as one of her biggest and most significant exploits this year, becoming the first ever Zimbabwean professional sportsperson to hold the cabinet post.
Coventry announced the news of her recent appointment in a post Twitter.
“I have just been appointed chairperson of the Senegal Youth Olympic Games Co-ordination Commission 2022. This means I will be working even more closely with our Senegal family to create a successful African Olympics. #Senegal #YouthOlympics #Olympics #Youth #Africa,” she wrote.
Coventry also recently revealed that she is pregnant and she is expecting to have her first child via an image posted on her Twitter account.
“We are going to be Parents in 2019! What a week, what a blessing!” she said in the post which was accompanied by a picture of her with her husband.
Her recent achievements are backed by seven Olympic swimming medals as well as medals in the All-Africa Games and the FINA World Championships.
Currently, the Minister is with the Zimbabwe team partaking in the ongoing Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
